SUBJECT: #30 Innershade, Vitamins to Prevent Sunburn
SYNOPSIS: A molecular biologist with a background at York University, the University of Alberta, and Concordia University College, Dr. Barry Barclay's research has focused on the role of the vitamin folic acid in DNA repair. A series of his experiments revealed that folic acid acts as a natural filter for ultraviolet radiation. With this discovery Barry decided to form his own biotechnology company called Global Biologics and is now marketing a unique formulation of the B vitamins folic acid, niacinimide and B12 under the label "Inner Shade". Research indicates the body metabolizes the supplement as a natural sunscreen. Further evidence suggests Inner Shade may provide relief for lupus patients from debilitating photosensitivity. And clinical trials are planned to test the vitamin supplement in relation to skin cancer prevention.
