My Summer Holiday 2005
August 19, 2005 - After waiting for the days and days of rain to subside, finally on the weekend the sun shone and we could head out to the mountains. Here's our first stop beside the Red Deer River just off Highway 54.

August 20, 2005 - My camping buddy Wayne Roberts holds up a tiny stone. Nothing like a gravel bar along the banks of the Red Deer River to find stones and fossils.

August 19, 2005 - Wayne and his son Aaron try their luck on the Red Deer River. This turned out not to be a good day to be fishing the Red Deer. After all the rain, the water was rising and it appeared water was being let out of the Dickson Dam just upstream. There was a lot of material rushing down the river, logs and such.

August 20, 2005 - Our camp at Pepper's Lake which is not far off the Forestry Trunk Road south of Nordegg. Note the rubber boots! Wayne (aka Chooch for southerners) stands proudly with the first catch of the day, two very fat brook trout from the chilly waters of Pepper's Lake.

August 20, 2005 - Moi (aka Rubberboots, my new handle given to me by Pizza Man at The Zoo) eating breakfast at Pepper's Lake. The trout here were as pink as salmon, and just as tasty, if not more so.

August 20, 2005 - The spruce forest behind our camp was filled with game trails. We decided to follow them around the lake.

August 20, 2005 - Squirrel midden. Note the black holes where the squirrel has been digging into its cache.
