May 17, 2004 - Taking a chance on planting out some lavender. The pansies don't seem to mind cold and snow, so they're safe. The weather forecast predicts cool temperatures, rain and possibly snow for the long weekend. The small rocks will help keep moisture in the soil.

May 24, 2004 - If babies are found in the cabbage patch, then I guess pussycats must come from whiskey barrels. It's amazing what you can grow in a garden!

May 24, 2004 - The first harvest of spring, asparagus shoots. Nothing like a stirfry of young asparagus, tomatoes and chicken breast.

May 24, 2004 - I picked up this tomato frame from Canadian Tire. Erecting the frame was pretty easy. All the pieces are numbered, so if you can count 1,2,3.....

May 24, 2004 - Now, putting the plastic tent onto the frame was another story. But in the end, it fit. The big trick I've found with all these breezy days is keeping it erect. Finally had to tie it to the raised bed to keep it from blowing across the yard.
